"Let's get it started in here" or, Begging in the beginning of the first part of the twenty-first century

Need money to carry out some amazing project you have in mind? Don't have one super-rich from whom you can beg a fortune? Why not beg all of your friends at the same time? I know what you're thinking, "How can I ask for money when I am used to communicating exclusively online and when begging is such a shameful activity?" Well, now we have the answer: kickstarter.com. Kickstarter.com makes all of your begging painless and shameless. It's a website that systematizes your begging into a simple web-based application. You can beg from hundreds, thousands of friends and still across as resourceful, intelligent, and progressive. Check it out--I have a friend who wanted to to bike across Europe this summer but she didn't want to have to pay for all of the expenses with her savings. She set up the following entry at kickstarter.com:

She and her friends spent hours putting together this plan and the accompanying animated video as promotional materials to draw in funds for their trip. Originally, their financial target was three thousand dollars. You can see for yourself whether they reached that; but, be sure to check out the video. The amount of work and expertise put into this project is worthy of the work done in any office that has as its goal to attract customers, investors, clients, or good will. In essence, the internet has become a place for individuals to become not just amateur musicians and filmmakers, but also become amateur development directors. The downside to this is how high a bar this creates. Now, begging money demands an advanced degree of technical ability. Don't worry, though. Kickstarter.com isn't for everyone. It's main purpose is to make begging appropriate, acceptable, functional for hipsters. Look, it works. If you are part of the youthful vanguard, use it. make some money.
