Home Decor, Lamp Edition

Eventually, my plants passed on. I needed to fill the gap left in the emotional space of my room with something else grounding. The literal space the plants had taken up was replaced with an air conditioner; last summer's heat was too much to pretend like I could be happy without one this year. Besides, my window sill gets only a only a limited amount of light.

I had some other things in the room that I wanted to get off of the floor and out of the way in order to have more space to think (yes, I literally need space to think), since I planned to get some writing done in my room this summer. What resulted was a mixture of a huge ripe from the shore of Staten Island wrapped around the center supports of a painting easel, and topped with my bed-side lamp.

It serves it's purpose, allowing me to keep useful and dear items that I will want in the future, while adding a sense of kitsch to the space. (Hint: The rope is the dear and the easel is useful.)
