Home Decor, Plants Edition

Riding the happy wave is a full-time endeavor. Sometimes I figure it out, and sometimes I don't. In the past year and a half, I have worked hard to make sure that I have a place where I can feel comfortable. (How happy can your wave be if you're not comfortable?)

In the middle of winter, my room was drying out from the radiator pipes that pass through it, and, subsequently, so was my throat. I didn't want to buy a humidifier (for whatever reason); so, I got a big planter, filled it with dirt seeds and water. Water-soaked dirt slowly releases moisture into the air, which allowed me to naturally humidify my room. Another upside: three months later, I had a planter full of seedlings. The squash took off, "squashing" out the light for the other plants.

By the time the plants had run their course, the squash had doubled in height of what this picture shows.
